Cyclone Biporjoy: Restrictions, Preventive Methods, Photos & Videos Of Strong Winds; More Details

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had warned about Cyclone Biporjoy approaching the western coast of India. As of now, its intensity is increasing and the authorities are planning to take preventive measures and impose restrictions in order to lessen its impact. Here are some details on the preventive measures against Cyclone Biporjoy.

Preventive Measures Ahead Of Cyclone Biporjoy

In order to examine the situation regarding Cyclone Biparjoy, which is anticipated to make landfall as a very strong cyclonic storm over the Saurashtra-Kutch beaches, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a meeting. Authorities have halted fishing operations and are evacuating residents from areas near the water.

According to the reports, fishing activities along the south and north coasts of Gujarat have been suspended. This preventative action aims to guarantee the safety of fishermen who may be in danger due to the cyclone’s choppy sea conditions. Moreover, authorities have started evacuations to move locals to a safer zone. Around 1,300 people have already been relocated to safe locations in the coastal Devbhumi Dwarka to shield them from potential danger.

In the coastal regions of the Kutch district, Section 144 has been implemented. It prohibits public gatherings of more than a certain number of persons. The state administration in Saurashtra and Kutch has been ordered by the federal government to control onshore and offshore operations and organise the evacuation of coastal areas.

Indian Railways Is Preparing For The Cyclone

As Cyclone Biparjoy is expected to make landfall close to Gujarat’s Mandvi-Jakhau Port, Indian Railways have reinforced its emergency readiness. This includes:

  • Activation of the disaster management room and 24-hour staffing by several departments at the Zonal Railway headquarters.
  • Regular wind speed monitoring at several points, with instructions to control or stop trains if wind speed exceeds 50 kmph.
  • At stations, anemometers have been erected, and readings of the wind speed are obtained hourly.

Several pictures and videos of the Indian coast are surfacing on Twitter. It shows the effects of the cyclone on the waters along areas like Dwarka and Somnath.
