Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh recently attended a Konkani Sammelan with a concert in San Jose, California. The Gehraiyaan actress attended the event in the capacity of a chief guest, dressed in a pink kurta set with gold accents. Deepika Padukone’s mother tongue is Konkani. Deepika Padukone’s mother tongue, Konkani originates from the coasts of Karnataka. The culture is known for celebrating food in all its glory. Soul-nourishing vegetarian food prepared with lentils, coconut and fresh vegetables, and spicy seafood are the highlights of the cuisine. In the convention, Deepika Padukone revealed in unseen videos that her favourite food is ‘dalithoy‘ this is a traditional yellow dal preparation that’s a staple in most Konkani households. She also revealed that she loves ‘batata song’, a spicy potato dish that will leave set fire to your tastebuds yet leave you asking for more.

Ranveer Singh Learns Deepika Padukone’s Mother Tongue For Future Kids

When asked about her husband Ranveer Singh’s favourite Konkani dish, she said he loves ‘upkari’. Interestingly, Ranveer Singh hates eating vegetables.  But he loves eating ‘upkari‘ a humble Konkani vegetable stir-fry dish. Deepika Padukone says it’s probably because ‘upkari’ is gently stir-fried, with fewer masalas where you can actually taste and savour the vegetables in all their glory. Ranveer Singh also won hearts in the convention by speaking in Konkani and telling the audience he was learning Deepika Padukone’s mother tongue for their future kids.
