The best part is that Dr Nene has turned regular barley water into a delicious beverage with his recipe. While I’ve known to consume it warm with a pinch of salt and a dollop of ghee, Dr Nene’s barley water recipe has piqued my interest, just like yours. Let’s get to it.
Ingredients
- 4 cups of water (1 litre)
- 1/4 cup of pearl barley
- Salt
- Honey
- Lemon
Method
- First, boil four cups or one litre of water.
- Next, add a quarter cup of pearl barley into the vessel.
- Stir the barley water for 5-10 minutes till the water absorbs all the goodness of the cereal grain.
- Strain the liquid into a glass.
- Add a pinch of salt.
- Drizzle a little honey into it.
- Squeeze half a lemon.
- Coat the glass with a lemon rind to make it a tropical drink.
For Dr Shriram Nene, it’s a tasty drink that’s actually a summer saviour. We can’t wait to drink barley water instead of regular water to hydrate ourselves. What about you?
