Delhi’s air quality and pollution have always been a concern, it increased exponentially in the past years. And now the condition turned so bad that the schools and many activities for children are shut. Delhi Chief Minister announced that all primary schools will be closed in Delhi. This situation came into action because of the poor air quality in the national capital. Read on to know more.

Primary Schools Are Shut And Outdoor Activities Are Discouraged

As pollution is increasing leading to worse air quality, physical schooling comes to a halt in Delhi. As announced by the Chief Minister, the primary schools will remain shut until an improvement in the air quality. And all the outdoor activities come to an end for the students reading in classes above class 5. The situation is truly worsening as the Delhi air quality is now in the ‘severe’ category.

Arvind Kejriwal also shared that the Delhi schools must initiate steps and work accordingly to control the situation. Also, he talked about whether they will start implementing the odd-even scheme for vehicles. Measures need to be taken to reduce the excess number of vehicles on Delhi roads and highways.

Gopal Rai is the Minister for the Environment in the Government of Delhi. According to a report by Reuters, he said that 50% of Delhi government employees work from home to deal with the air emergency in Delhi. In fact, he also asked private companies and offices to take similar actions.

How Is The Recent Delhi Air Quality?

The air quality remained in the ‘severe’ category today morning as well. The category is at such a crucial stage for the second day. As per a report by Free Press Journal, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi on Friday morning was 472. Gurugram’s AQI jumped to 539 remaining in the ‘severe’ category. In fact, Noida experienced a massive worsening of the situation as the AQI reached 562. The air quality in Noida is also in the ‘severe’ category, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research India.
