The new portion of Terminal 1 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will be open from August 17. The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) announced that the newly expanded part will be operational from Saturday and will relieve the passenger pressure on Terminals 2 and 3.

On June 28, a portion of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 1 collapsed. Ever since then, T-1 of the Delhi Airport has been shut down and the passenger pressure on the other two terminals increased significantly. Now, with the opening of this new expanded T-1, overall airport capacity will be improved and so will the passenger experience.

As per a Hindustan Times report, SpiceJet will shift 13 of its flights to the new terminal from August 17. This will be followed by IndiGo transferring 34 flights from Terminals 2 and 3 starting September 2.
