If you are living in a metropolitan area, taking public transport is known to be the most useful way to commute. Calling a taxi or auto rickshaw is what you would prefer instead of taking a car or bike. But what would you do if the driver of these public transport systems misbehaved with you? Raising a complaint is the first step, right? That is what this journalist did! A female journalist posted a video on Wednesday, alleging that the Uber auto rickshaw driver misbehaved with her. Here are the details of what happened according to the woman.

Uber Auto Rickshaw Driver Misbehaves!

On 1st March, a journalist named Arfa Javaid posted a Twitter thread stating the details of the incident that happened to her. According to her tweets, she had booked an Uber auto to her friend’s residence. After a while, she noticed that the driver was staring at her — well, precisely at her breasts. She shifted to the left and out of his sight, but he started to look back frequently to see her. Alarmed, Arfa Javaid started using the safety feature in Uber but to no avail.

Sensing no other options left, she confronted the driver and warned him to focus on driving. Or else, she would raise a complaint. On this, the man replied “Kardo”. She did make a short video of the man where the journalist is heard saying “should I raise a complaint?” Moreover, she clicked an image of the driver and attached it to this Twitter thread and mentioned his name to be ‘Vinod Kumar’.

Action Against This Incident

The Delhi Commission For Women (DCW) told the journalist to share her contact details with them. Also, Uber India Support has replied to check for the ‘in-app Help’ section. Delhi was reported as the most unsafe place for women and as the ‘rape capital’ of India. There are an average of three rape cases reported daily in the city. Moreover, there have been massive outrages against these cases. But the only measure taken was conducting self-defence training camps for women.
