Government Vendors Take Over Delhi Liquor Shops

The Excise Policy 2021–22 was unable to bring in the anticipated revenues, and its implementation was being examined for potential rule violations and procedural lapses, therefore the Delhi government made the decision to revert to the previous excise regime and operate liquor stores through its agencies. Due to the opening of more stores, according to Excise officials, the supply of alcohol will increase starting in the first week of September. Nearly 250 private liquor shops will be replaced by 300 government liquor shops. Since 500 businesses are anticipated to open by four Delhi government undertakings, there will be additional shops and the number will increase in the days to come.
