Delhi Government Is All Set To Revamp Majnu Ka Tila And Chandni Chowk As Food Hubs

Delhi is one of the most famous places in India to enjoy the most delicious street food. In fact, the Indian capital is also known as the food capital of India. There are so many iconic places here where you can gorge on different lip-smacking dishes and among all the big names, Majnu Ka Tila and Chandni Chowk are two of the most favourites. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the AAP government is working to revamp Majnu Ka Tila and Chandni Chowk as food hubs.

Delhi Government Will Develop Majnu Ka Tila And Chandni Chowk As Food Hubs

The AAP government made this announcement on Sunday. In an online press briefing, he spoke about the establishment of food hubs in Delhi in Majnu Ka Tila and Chandni Chowk. This is an initiative by the government to increase jobs and promote and support the food industry in the capital. This falls under the Delhi government’s 2022–23 annual budget and this development is the first phase of the project. The goal of the Delhi government’s annual budget 2022-23 is to make about 2 million employment opportunities in 5 years.

Majnu Ka Tila

They aim to create job opportunities by establishing food centres and food hubs, revamping markets, shopping for festivals, and more. The Chief Minister also said that this new revamping will improve the infrastructure, focus on hygiene and safety, and proper marketing of the food hubs. The government’s plan is to take the concept of food capital and Delhiete’s love for food and take it forward.

These Two Places Are Just Perfect For This Project

The revamping of Majnu Ka Tila and Chandni Chowk into food hubs is a part of the first phase of this development project and this is kind of a  trial initiative. Kejriwal shared that the government chose these 2 places for food hubs after extensive research. They came to conclusion by deciding on these two places to begin the revamp project. Both these places in Delhi are everyone’s favourite for gastronomical feasts of street foods. Also, Majnu Ka Tila is a famous hangout spot for students of Delhi University.

According to the plan, a design competition will take place. The Delhi government will invite various architects for the plans and designs. Kejriwal shared that the designs will be finalised in 12 weeks.
