There have been numerous prior instances of comparable problems.
Why Did A Delhi Man Try To Set A Cabbage On Fire?

In this video, the man is seen in his kitchen with a cabbage in his hand. He describes how he bought the cabbage two days ago. He used it then and kept it in his fridge. Because of how fresh the vegetable looked, he got suspicious. He tells the audience that this is due to all the videos of fake vegetables that have been circulating on social media. The Delhi man decided to put the authenticity of the cabbage to the test.
In the video, he mentions that he has already checked this off-camera. He wants to now show everyone his discovery on Instagram. Taking a leaf off the cabbage, he puts it directly on the flame of the gas. The man says that ideally if the cabbage was real or wasn’t adulterated, it would catch fire. After holding it over the flame for a while, we can see that the cabbage is not catching fire. He shuts off the gas and starts stretching the leaf. As the video zooms in, we can see the leaf being stretched until it tears. This, according to him, shows that there is something wrong with the cabbage. It could have chemicals to keep it looking fresh for longer.
This Is What Netizens Had To Say

The comments on this viral video have a wide range. They are funny like most comments under such videos tend to be. A lot of the commenters are talking about the sorry state of the man’s kitchen and stove. Users are asking him when was the last time he cleaned the stove.
But, mostly, people believe that this man doesn’t understand basic biology. One user commented that this is happening because of the high content of water and fibre in the cabbage. Another user talks about how making artificial vegetables is actually more expensive than the real ones! “Lol no companies have so much time to create such real-looking cabbage for ₹55”, they said.
There are some people who agree with him too. Some users have tagged Zepto, asking them to take action. The comments under the post are on a spectrum. Some blame him for spreading misinformation while others thank him for spreading awareness.
