Construction work for three upcoming flyovers in Delhi will see a delay. To begin with, the timeline for the West Delhi Elevated Corridor has been extended. This is mainly due to the awaited final clearance for the transplantation of trees to clear the carriageway and widen service roads. This corridor is important as it will connect flyovers at Club Road and Moti Nagar.

The construction of this elevated corridor has become a nightmare for commuters in this area. There are two major bottlenecks between Dhaula Kuan and Punjabi Bagh that have been the cause of woe for West Delhi commuters. The project will miss its July 31 deadline at this pace. And no new deadline has been set for this project for now.

Another flyover that’s facing major delays is the Barapullah project. In its 3rd phase, the Barapullah project started in April 2015. The project was first slated to open to the public in October 2017. However, it has been facing many delays due to the formal clearance of bills and tree transplantation. The project is about 90% finished and is expected to ease traffic between Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and Sarai Kale Khan. However, it will face yet another delay now.

Another major Delhi flyover that is facing severe delays is the Nand Nagri Flyover. This 1.5-km flyover between Nand Nagri and Gagan Cinema junction will see a delay of up to 4 months. This will significantly hamper traffic in northeast Delhi. This corridor is as it will ease traffic congestion for commuters between north Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The previous deadline for this project was July 31. Now, however, the authorities have pushed it to October 11.

These delays are really concerning, especially seeing how they affect the daily commute of people in the city! Let us know your two cents on this in the comments.
