After one of the driest and hottest Februaries in North India in decades, mid-March has brought a major shift in weather across several regions. On Wednesday evening, Delhi once again witnessed thunderstorms and rain, bringing much-needed relief to residents, while the higher reaches of Kashmir saw fresh snowfall, turning it into a winter wonderland once again.

Kashmir has turned chilly again, with fresh snowfall in the higher reaches and rain in the plains, as an active Western Disturbance is currently impacting the region. According to The Times of India, IMD has forecast erratic weather across India until March 20.

On March 18, popular tourist destinations like Gulmarg and Sonamarg received fresh snowfall, while Srinagar witnessed light drizzle. Mornings and evenings in the valley remain especially cold, with daytime temperatures well below normal. Keeping the weather conditions in mind and more snowfall expected in the coming days, local authorities have advised tourists to plan their travel accordingly.

Karnataka Village Sees Snow-Like Hailstorm
Not just North India, weather patterns have shifted in the southern parts of the country as well. On March 17, Kalghatgi town and nearby villages in Karnataka’s Dharwad district witnessed a snow-like hailstorm. According to The Hindu, the sudden downpour caused panic, with residents rushing to take shelter.

Kalghatgi was the worst-affected area, with hailstones covering large stretches of roads and leaving vehicles stranded, making driving conditions risky.
