Delhiites Visiting Nainital & Mussoorie Must Now Take COVID-19 Test

Covid-19 cases in India have been on the decline for the past few weeks- however, the cases in the hill stations are still on a rise. And to ensure the safety of the tourists and the locals, the government has come up with the rules for people travelling from metropolitan cities to hill stations. In the latest updates, Delhi and NCR residents will now have to test negative for entering Nainital and Mussoorie. So if you are planning to celebrate New Year’s with your gang in these hill stations, here’s everything you need to know.

Visitors Traveling To Uttarakhand Will Now Have To Get Tested At Entry Points Of Nainital And Mussoorie

The Uttarakhand High Court has now issued an order that tourists will now have to do a mandatory test for visiting the two towns. This move has come into play amid the rising cases in the state. The high court has taken this step after hearing the plea of people who had filed a petition about the condition of quarantine centres and Covid hospitals and facilities in the state.

For the tourists, Dushyant Mainali, counsel for one of the petitioners, said to a leading daily,

“The court directed the state government to conduct the tests at the entry points of Nainital and Mussoorie as the cases are rising due to a huge influx of tourists from across the country.”

Well not only this, but the court has now asked the state government to submit an affidavit by December 23, for the preparations of the Mahakumbh next year.

Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh Also Impose Night Curfew To Curb The Covid-19 Cases

As for the covid-19, Uttarakhand is not the only state that’s taking stringent steps to curb the spread of the virus. Himachal too has taken some steps to curb the spread of the virus. Due to the rising COVID cases in Himachal, all schools and colleges in the state will remain shut till December 31. The government also clamped a night curfew in four districts which includes Shimla, Mandi, Kangra and Kullu districts from 8 pm to 6 am.

Besides Himachal, Madhya Pradesh government also has imposed night curfews in five cities including Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Ratlam and Vidisha. The curfew will enforce residents to be home 10 PM to 6 AM. Even the Gujarat government decided to impose night curfew in Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot to curb the spread of the virus.
