Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport Is Ranked As The 10th Busiest Airport In The World

The Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is now ranked as one of the world’s busiest airports. IGI Delhi improved its ranking after the pre-pandemic period. OAG, an aviation analytics firm, found in its study that Delhi Airport changed its position from 14th place in October 2019, before the pandemic.

Here’s How IGI Delhi Came In The List Of Busiest Airports

OAG rankings are based on the airline’s projected capacity for the current month, compared to the corresponding month in 2019 prior to the pandemic. The list of the top 10 busiest airports in the world is based on the total capacity for domestic and international flights. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was the world’s busiest airport in October 2022.

Earlier, there were no Indian airports in the top 10 list of busiest international airports. But now, Delhi Airport is among the top 10 busiest airports in the world. In a separate report, OAG said Mumbai is among the top 10 international routes after Dubai. The busiest airlines have the most scheduled seats from October 2021 to September 2022.

Busiest Airports According To OAG

In 2022, also Atlanta remains the busiest airport in the world. Dubai Airport and Tokyo Haneda remained in the same position as last month in 2nd and 3rd place, both with a 5% increase in seats compared to the previous month. Istanbul Airport, which was the 4th busiest airport last month, slipped to 8th place this month, falling to 6th place in terms of capacity, and is the only airport in the top 10 to see a decline.

According to OAG, here’s a list of the top 10 busiest airports in 2022.
