Devotees Can Now Visit Puri For Free Under The Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana

The budget for the fiscal year 2025–2026 was unveiled by the Odisha government on Monday, along with other new initiatives. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced during the budget presentation that the state government would implement a new program called the Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana to grant the desires of underprivileged devotees.

Through the introduction of a new program called the Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana, the government has set aside ₹820 crore for the state’s tourism industry. This program will allow the poor to travel to Srimandir in Puri for free and provide them with Mahasprasad, while also concentrating on the development of extensive infrastructure and the promotion of tourist destinations.

Compared to 2024–2025, when the budget was ₹800 crore, the government has boosted the overall tourist budget by ₹20 crore. The Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana has been given a budget of ₹30 crore.

Other Initiatives Taken By The State Of Odisha

The government has set aside ₹225 crore for the integrated construction of the Maa Tarini Temple Complex at Ghatagaon in Keonjhar. The emphasis will be on the extensive renovation of significant shrines and places of worship. Plans for the Sakhi Gopinath temple at Sakhigopal have been similar. A magnificent “Sunya Mandap” will be built, and the Mahima Gadi near Joranda will be developed.

The Government will carry out various integrated master plans over the next five years. These include Deomali, Dhauli, Chilika, Khandagiri-Udaygiri, Khiching, Satkosia, and Similipal. At 30 locations, Mahila Paryatan Mitras will create a friendly and secure atmosphere for female tourists.

The Odisha Government’s initiatives show their unwavering commitment and dedication towards making travel accessible for the poor and vulnerable.
