Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, donned a flowy skirt flaunting Diljit Dosanjh’s name all over it! Why you ask? Well, she crashed Diljit’s hotel room in Mumbai for this lovely episode of Sunday Brunch. They were later joined by his Jatt & Juliet co-star, Neeru Bajwa. Today, we talk about some of the special dishes from Diljit’s pind, Dosanjh Kalan.

What Food Items Diljit Dosanjh Enjoyed In Dosanjh Kalan?


We initiated the discussion on Diljit’s childhood and how deeply he is rooted in his hometown and Punjabi culture. He declared that he lived in his village or pind, Dosanjh Kalan, for about 10 years. He shifted to Ludhiana in Punjab for better opportunities. However, there will always be a special place in his heart for Dosanjh Kalan.

We wanted to know more about Diljit’s childhood days. So we asked him to recount some of the fond memories from his pind. He highlighted that Dosanjh Kalan is renowned for its pakode and barfi. He gorged on those dishes often during his childhood days.

Then, he talked about mathri and samosas and how it was a go-to evening snack for the residents of his pind. Next, he recalled that locals could only relish rasgulla only at weddings! This one took us by surprise, however, we remembered that weddings happen quite often so it was all good.

On top of that, Diljit added that weddings also had a great combination of banana chutney and samosa! Although there weren’t many food specialities in his hometown, he was happy with pakode, barfi, mathri and samosas. Seems like we unlocked some core memories for Diljit!

After talking about food, we learned about Diljit’s musical journey. He believes that he possesses a singing gene passed down by his ancestors. Hence, a music career was bound to happen for him someday.

He shared with us that he stepped into the world of music by playing tabla. Then, he contributed to shabad kirtan at his school and gradually developed an interest in music, especially Punjabi music. And years later, we have the sensational Diljit Dosanjh ruling people’s hearts!
