At this point, it is just Diljit Dosanjh’s world and we are living in it, happily! Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, caught Diljit and Neeru Bajwa just in time for their Jatt & Juliet 3 promotions in Mumbai. We filmed a fantastic episode of Sunday Brunch with them and conversed about music, films, food and more. We learned about Paaji’s music journey; read on.
Diljit Dosanjh Was Inclined Towards Music Since Childhood
Kamiya spoke about how no one in Diljit’s family was from the music industry. His father worked in the Punjab Roadways sector. No family member had any background in music, hence, we were curious to know how exactly Diljit’s love for music developed. Our guest told us that his forefathers gifted him with the singing gene and he is forever grateful to them.
It is safe to say that it is in his DNA and his exceptional music career was bound to happen! He shared that the first instrument he learnt was the tabla and this is where his music journey began. After that, he took part in the shabad kirtan at his school. Shabad kirtan is a form of popular classical Sikh music.
Eventually, his interest in music, particularly in Punjabi music, evolved. Now, after years of hard work, Diljit has sold out concerts, instructed Ed Sheeran to sing in Hindi and more! Pursuing and succeding in a career you have always dreamed of is a blessing. Way to go, Paaji!

He Shared Some Gurpurab Memories
Diljit continued that during the celebrations of Gurpurab, he (as a kid) used to be over the moon. He recalled fond memories of the necessary activities at the Gurudwara. He told us that he assisted in cleaning and decorating the premises of Gurudwara for this festival. He was also a part of the singing group.
Another thing he highlighted was attending the morning Prabhat Pheri and how it gave him immense pleasure and peace. He said, “Yeh sab cheezein mujhe bohot achi lagti thi. Aisa lagta tha jaise dream world hai!” This showcases that he is truly close to his pind in Punjab.
