The United Arab Emirates is bracing for a long weekend as the nation celebrates Prophet Muhammad’s birthday. To commemorate the day and make the long weekend all the more special for people, the Integrated Transport Centre of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi has announced free parking, toll and even public bus timings. Observed on September 29, which marks a holiday for people, here is all you need to know about these important developments.

As the UAE observes a holiday on Friday, September 29 for the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, people are already making plans to ensure that the last long week of the year does not go to waste. It seems that the authorities in the UAE are also ensuring that they leave no stone unturned for the celebration. Yes, so, for the upcoming holiday, the Integrated Transport Centre of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi has announced that there will be free parking and toll while also revealing the public bus timings for September 29. Yes, according to a report by Khaleej Times, it was revealed that surface parking will be free from Friday till Saturday, 7:59 AM. Not to mention, these include the Musaffah M-18 Truck parking lot, which will also be free on the official holiday.

What About The Public Bus Service?

As it happens, the ITC has also asked the drivers not to park in prohibited areas, which can lead to blockage of traffic movements. Not to mention, they have also been urged to avoid parking in residential spaces between 9 PM and 8 AM. Coming to the toll gates system, these will also be free on Friday and the charges will return on Saturday between 7 AM and 9 AM and 5 PM and 7 PM. As it happens, the public bus service will also operate as per their usual schedule during the long weekend. Finally, the customer’s Happiness Centres will also be closed during the holiday. In fact, not just Abu Dhabi, Sharjah is also offering free parking for today and tomorrow.
