Dubai Couple Re-Unite With Their 2-Year-Old Baby After 41 Days

UAE-based couple Chiara Maioni and Mark Hill finally re-united with their two-year-old baby Skye Mia Maioni Hill after more than a month. The Italian and her British husband, Mark Hill, flew to Cape Town on March 12 and planned to return on March 21. On March 15, they tried to advance their return flight forward. Their baby in Dubai was in the care of their trusted nanny and housemaid.

Earlier, Gulf News reported on their plight on April 1 after they were separated from the girl. The couple also pleaded with authorities to speed up a possible reunion with the baby.

Chiara and Mark arrived in Dubai on April 22 after 41 days of staying away from their little one. All thanks to the commendable efforts by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.

The couple are now overwhelmed with joy and also thanked the UAE authorities as well as the Italian Embassy in South Africa and the Italian Consulate in the UAE. “We are very grateful to the UAE Government, especially to all officials at GDRFA, MOFA, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and the UAE Embassy in South Africa. We were contacted directly by Maj-Gen Mohammad Al Marri, director of GDRFA-Dubai and MOFA officials to facilitate our return,” said Mark.

Chiara said she was proud of the UAE and Italy and that it was so lovely to see both the countries join hands to help them. They can now see their home from the isolation facility and are waiting to hold their baby in their arms.
