And it was recently announced that Dubai Duty Free is the world’s top retailer!

If you’ve landed previously at the Dubai International Airport (DXB) for a stopover flight or as the destination, then you will be aware of how dazzling it is. There are many retail outlets offering a range of fancy things that will leave you truly spoilt for choice. And now, the Dubai Media Office, in its recent tweet, mentioned that Dubai Duty Free is the world’s top retail outlet! Yes, they have contributed about AED105+ billion in sales over the last four decades. These figures are hardly surprising, as the massive retail area is spread over a whopping 40,000 square metres.
Not to mention in the year 2022 itself, it recorded a massive AED6.3 billion in sales, which is an increase of 77 per cent. Sounds stellar, doesn’t it? In fact, today, the Dubai Duty Free employs more than 5000 people, who’re constantly working hard to raise this benchmark in the world of airport retailing.

Dubai Duty Free was founded back in 1983, and since then it has grown into one of the biggest travel retail operators in the world! Moreover, to date, it has received more than 750 awards. Yes, these include the Frontier Award for ‘Airport Retailer of the Year’. As it happens, this has been won for the tenth time, which is a record in itself.
In fact, recently, the Dubai Duty Free made an announcement that it’s contributing AED20 million towards the ‘1 Billion Meals Endowment’ campaign. For those who aren’t aware, this campaign has been launched by His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Dubai.
