Living in the UAE has travel benefits for Indian passport holders. Your nationality is based on your passport, but having a valid UAE residence permit can make travel to some places easier. Some countries are allowing eligible UAE residents to enter without a visa, while others offer a visa on arrival or an easy eVisa process.

Which means less paperwork, faster approvals and more chances of a spontaneous trip. Whether you’re after a weekend break or a longer holiday, here are eight destinations where being a UAE resident can make the journey a little easier.

Before you book: Entry requirements may differ and depend on the validity of your passport and UAE residence permit. Check the official immigration or embassy website before travelling.

1. Georgia

Georgia is still one of the best options for residents of the UAE who want to see mountains and quaint old towns and have a cheap holiday.

Indian passport holders holding a valid UAE residence permit are eligible for visa-free entry to Georgia provided they meet the entry requirements of the country, including the validity of the passport and residence permit. Visitors can stay up to 90 days in any 180 days.

Average flight time from Dubai: Around 3.5 hours.

2. Armenia

Armenia has become increasingly popular among UAE residents thanks to its short flying time and relaxed entry policy for eligible travellers.

Indian passport holders holding a valid UAE residence permit can currently enter Armenia visa-free under a temporary exemption programme, which Armenia has extended through July 1, 2027 (it originally covered January–July 2026 and has since been renewed with a slightly trimmed list of eligible nationalities). Travellers can stay up to 180 days within 12 months, provided their residence permit has at least six months’ validity remaining on entry. Because this is a temporary measure rather than a permanent visa-free arrangement, it’s worth double-checking the current status closer to your travel date.

This eVisa does not require an Omani sponsor and is generally approved within a day. Some travellers with an approved profession on their Emirates ID may also qualify for a visa on arrival at the airport, but this is not guaranteed for everyone, so it is safer to arrange the eVisa online before you fly.
