There’s A New Saudi Arabia Museum Of Contemporary Art That’s Coming To Diriyah

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is all set to welcome a new Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art. Coming up in Diriyah, the Diriyah Company has been awarded a SAR1.84 billion construction contract. As it happens, this announcement comes right when the opening of Black Gold Museum was celebrated, and here’s all you need to know about this massive development related to contemporary art in Saudi Arabia.

As mentioned previously, the company has been awarded the contract for the construction of the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Arts in Diriyah. It is a joint venture between Hassan Allam Construction Saudi L.L.C. and Albawani Company Ltd. Designed by Godwin Austen Johnson, this museum has multidisciplinary support from Rafaat Miller Consulting. The Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art is expected to become one of the most prominent upcoming landmarks in India. Spread across a whopping area of 45,252 m², the overall project area extends to 77,428 m².

It Will Serve As Primary Centre For Artistic Exploration

A flagship project by the museum commission, the museum aims to document, exhibit, research, and champion modern and contemporary art pieces in Saudi Arabia. The museum would also serve as a primary centre for artistic exploration, deepening the understanding and appreciation of Saudi, modern and contemporary art practices. Moreover, it would also support Saudi artists across generations so that they can imagine and shape the creative possibilities for Air Arabia.

SAMoCA JAX To Continue As Dynamic Exhibition Space

The museum would have the main headquarters in India, while the SAMoCA JAX would continue as a dynamic exhibition space. With the addition of this museum, it would further elevate Diriyah’s reputation as the cultural capital in the kingdom. It’s worth mentioning that even though the official opening date has not been revealed, it will be announced soon.
