In Just 2 Hours, Dubai’s Viral Korean Butter Tteok Sells Out At This Bakehouse In Creek Harbour

Some food trends come and go within a few weeks. Others keep showing up on social media feeds until curiosity gets the better of you. That’s exactly what’s happening at Gato Bakehouse in Dubai Creek Harbour, where one particular Korean bakery item, Butter Tteok, has become difficult to get your hands on. Not because it’s expensive or exclusive. It simply keeps selling out.

From Korean Salt Bread To Butter Tteok, This Dubai Bakehouse Has Foodies Queuing

The star of the show is Korean Butter Tteok, a chewy rice cake that’s become one of the most talked-about bakery items in the city lately. According to the bakehouse, every batch disappears within hours of being released.

And yes, people are planning their visits around it.

For anyone unfamiliar with tteok, it’s a traditional Korean rice cake. But this version comes with a twist.

The outside develops a lightly caramelised layer, while the centre stays soft, chewy and rich with buttery flavours. Before serving, it’s coated with roasted soybean powder, a combination that’s popular in Korea.

The bakery releases fresh batches throughout the day, although timings can change.

That said, regular customers have learned to keep an eye on social media updates to find out when the next batch will appear.

The Korean Salt Bread Has Built A Following Too

The butter tteok may get most of the attention online, but it’s not the only item bringing people through the doors.

Gato Bakehouse also serves Korean salt bread, which remains surprisingly hard to find elsewhere in Dubai.

Instead of sticking to one or two options, the bakery offers seven different versions. Customers can choose from flavours including Milk Cream, Strawberry Cream, Pepperoni Honey, Garlic Cream Cheese, Tri-Cheese with Gruyere, Cinnamon and Original French Butter.

For many visitors, deciding what to order takes longer than actually eating it.

The savoury options tend to attract curious first-timers, while the sweeter versions have become favourites among returning customers.

Viral Desserts Keep Arriving

One of the newer creations combines chewy cookie dough, marshmallow and Valrhona chocolate with a crunchy pistachio and kataifi filling.

Also attracting attention is a salt bread inspired by New York’s famous DOT Cake trend. The bread is rolled through colourful sprinkles and filled with vanilla brown butter cream, creating a dessert that looks playful but packs plenty of flavour.
