As per The Hindu reports, this initiative at the railway station aims to offer a safe and comfortable stay, especially for those who visit the city for educational, medical or job-related purposes. The facility includes:

  1. 73 single beds
  2. 15 double beds
  3. 18 beds allocated only to women in a hall with a separate washroom and dressing room

What Are The Prices Of Beds?

Designed to prioritise the travellers and their convenience, the beds are available at affordable prices. The price of the single bed starts from ₹200 for 3 hours and ₹400 for up to 24 hours. Whereas for double beds, it’s ₹300 for 3 hours and ₹600 for up to 24 hours.

As one of the developed cities of India, Visakhapatnam has hotel rooms and accommodation that often come at high prices. Addressing this issue, Waltair Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lalit Bohra stated that the sleeping pods are perfect for travellers looking for affordable stays in the city, The Hindu reported.

The next time you visit Vizag, you can find these sleeping pods within the station, near gate no. 3 on platform no. 1 at the main entry. It’s the main entry and exit point for the passengers.

Moreover, the work of the Visakhapatnam railway redevelopment has already started. The new station will reportedly feature a 72-metre-long air concourse with various shops. Also, the plans to connect the metro station with the railway station are underway, making it easier for passengers to change trains.
