Eiffel Tower Is Now 6m Taller After Installation of New Antenna

The Eiffel Tower now measures 330 metres after a new digital radio antenna was attached to the top of the monument in Paris. The world’s most-loved monument grew by 6 metres(19.69 feet) after the antenna was airlifted and attached to the peak of the Eiffel Tower by a helicopter. Over the years, the monument has not just been known as a romantic tourist site but has also been used for broadcast transmission for over 100 years. Interestingly, the height of Eiffel Tower’s pinnacle has changed numerous times with ageing antennas being replaced.

Last Antenna Was Fixed In The Year 2000

Videos and live television images piqued the interest of netizens by showing a helicopter lowering the antenna onto the base atop the Eiffel Tower. Workmen worked efficiently to ensure the operation was a success and was completed in under 10 minutes. The Head of the tower’s operating company, Jean Francois Martins revealed to media agencies that the new antenna atop Eiffel Tower will transmit digital radio in Paris.
