A Brief History Of This Legendary Govind Idol In Rajasthan

As the mythological story goes, over 5,500 years ago, when Bajranabh was just 13 years old, he created three images of lord Krishna. Bajranabh was a descendent of Lord Krishna and he wanted to know what he looked like. Curious, he asked his grandmother. Based on the description he got from his grandmother, he made the three portraits.

However, when he showed the three portraits to his grandmother, she said that not all three were accurate. In the first, only the feet seemed accurate. This portrait got the name ‘Madan Mohan ji.’ In the second, only the torso or the chest area seemed accurate and it was named ‘Gopi Nath Ji.’ Finally, his last attempt was successful and it was called ‘Govind Ji.’
