This Navaratri we were graced by the presence of the Garba Queen of Mumbai, Falguni Pathak. She appeared on this episode of Tere Gully Mein with our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani. We managed to talk to her about Gujarati food, garba, music, and her career journey. We were astonished to hear that her first paycheck was received at the age of nine and was paid ₹25! Her first stage performance was not like a typical stage show, it was on the floor of a ship. Watch the entire video to learn more about her lifestyle.
Falguni Pathak’s First Paycheck Was
After gorging on some of the yummy Gujarati staple food items at Murlidhar Sweets And Farsan in Borivali West, it was time to move on to the next food spot. On the way to Har Bhole Kutchi Dabeli, a street stall for great Dabeli, we chatted for a while in the car. Kamiya asked Falguni Pathak about her first paycheck ever and if she recalled it. She very proudly replied that she remembered it very well. She told us about how she got her first stage show and this same gig’s amount was her first paycheck.
Her first show was at the age of nine years old. We were excited to hear that she pursued her passion at the tender age of nine! So we questioned her about the same stage performance. Falguni said that she performed on the INS Udaygiri ship on August 15th for Independence Day. INS Udaygiri is the third ship of the Indian Navy for the Nilgiri-class stealth-guided missile frigates. Wow, that is a very great start to your career, Falguni!

Falguni Pathak revealed that she got ₹25 for that show and the amount remained the same for a long time. Gradually, the money increased. Kamiya jokingly mentioned that she would not ask about her current paycheck because she was aware of the tickets to Falguni’s garba nights. Be that as it may, you should experience Falguni Pathak’s shows at least once in your lifetime.
How Did She Manage To Get Her First Stage Show?
Falguni Pathak narrated a story behind her bagging the spot to sing on Independence Day on INS Udaygiri. She told us that her music teacher from her school used to live next door. The teacher was acquainted with a group known as Roop Kala orchestra and he very kindly introduced them to Falguni. He went on to praise her singing skills which made them ask her to do a few of their shows. The rest is history now! We are truly thankful to her music teacher.
