A woman in Bengaluru’s Jalahalli Metro platform was stuck in an uncomfortable situation while waiting for a metro recently. A security guard at the station was allegedly staring continuously at her. He then started touching himself inappropriately which made the woman feel unsafe and uncomfortable. When she asked him to stop, he reportedly did not respond and continued to stare and touch himself. She captured the incident on her phone camera.

She then filed an anonymous complaint with Namma Metro authorities and even attached the video as proof. In her complaint, the woman mentioned the time and details of the entire incident. She expressed feeling “unsafe and uncomfortable.” However, the authorities did not take any action on the matter. This sparked a public outcry and many people took to social media to talk about their concerns about women’s safety in the Bengaluru metro. They even tagged the metro authorities as well as the Bengaluru Police on these posts.

As per the latest reports, the woman has filed a FIR about the entire incident. She has submitted the video proof and filed an official complaint at Bengaluru’s Subramanya Nagar police station. In the last few months, such distressing incidents have increased in Namma Metro. Recently, two female staff members at Rajajinagar and Yeshwantpur metro stations were accused of sexual harassment.

This entire incident is quite concerning. We hope the police take quick action against the miscreant and take steps so no such behaviour takes place again.
