Union Finance Nirmala Sitharaman recently was in Chennai for a day when she was spotted purchasing vegetables from a roadside vegetable vendor. She was in Chennai for inaugurating a centre for differently-abled children in the city. Nirmala Sitharaman Visits Roadside Vendor Buy Veggies

The Union Minister’s official account shared a post on her purchasing vegetables from a vendor and wrote, “During her day-long visit to Chennai, Smt @nsitharaman made a halt at Mylapore market where she interacted with the vendors & local residents and also purchased vegetables.”

Prior to visiting the Mylapore market, Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated a centre for the differently abled kids. According to Fin Min’s official Twitter account, “Anandam Learning Centre was started in 2018 for children with learning difficulties such as autism, dyslexia, slow learning disability and especially caters to those families who cannot afford specialised care.”

Following the inauguration, Nirmala Sitharaman headed to the Mylapore market. According to a report by The Indian Express, the minister purchased vegetables from a roadside vendor named, M Padma. M Padma’s daughter confirmed in the report, that the minister had paid the full amount of ₹200 after purchasing the vegetables. Another BJP minister was also accompanying Nirmala ji during the market visit. Reacting to the incident, a few had even expressed their opinions on the purchase. Here’s what they thought.
