Recently, the first autonomous drone parcel delivery trial was conducted in Abu Dhabi. This was done with the support of Abu Dhabi Investment Office, which helped with the launch of the first pilot flight for the autonomous parcel delivery. First Parcel Drone Delivery Trial In Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi Investment Office conducted the first pilot flight for the autonomous zone parcel delivery in Abu Dhabi. This was done with the support of aviation technology firm LODD and 7X. EMX, which is an express delivery provider, was also a part of this trial. In the video posted by Abu Dhabi Media Office, the parcel to be delivered is attached to the drone, which then takes flight across Khalifa City to deliver it at the drop site.

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that this trial is under the strategy of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council. With the aim of developing and adopting smart and integrated mobility solutions in Abu Dhabi, this drone trial was conducted with the oversight from GCAA and ITC. In case you’re wondering, this is the General Civil Aviation Authority. These efforts were taken for localising production, developing future-ready infrastructure and reinforcing its position as a global hub for advanced industries and innovation. Moreover, the initiative was taken as a part of the wider strategy for smart mobility!

Move Towards Smart Aerial Mobility
As it happens, the test flight, which was conducted in Khalifa City, showcases the viability of autonomous aerial parcel delivery. Not to mention, the package was delivered from the local post office to the designated drop zone through a winch-based delivery system. With a definitive step towards smart aerial mobility in Abu Dhabi, this marks the first phase of the broader strategy that aims to deploy drone-based logistic services across the emirate.
