India’s national carrier, Air India brings good news for all the football lovers in India! Ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Doha, Air India on Thursday announced 20 new direct flights per week to Qatar Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The Gulf country will be hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022 in November-December and the airline expects tourist demand to shoot up during this time. The airline announced that it will launch direct flights from the key Indian cities to Doha, Qatar from Oct 30 onwards.
The New Air India Flights Will Be In Addition To The Existing Daily Flights To Doha From Delhi
Air India’s 20 new direct flights to Qatar will include 13 flights per week to Doha from Mumbai and 4 flights per week from Hyderabad. It will also include 3 flights per week from Chennai. The airline mentions that the 20 new direct flights will be in addition to the existing daily flights to Doha from Delhi.
Ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022, Air India will make the Chennai-Doha flight service effective from Nov 10. The Hyderabad-Doha flights will commence on Nov 11. The launch of the Mumbai-Doha flights will happen in two phases from Oct 30.
According to the airline, the strengthening of network connectivity is being enabled as more aircraft are returning to service. Air India’s increase of 14 new flights on its domestic network in August was another major step toward expanding its global network.

Nipun Aggarwal, Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer revealed that by bringing the football extravaganza to India, Air India aims to provide strong connectivity between India and Qatar.
“Football fans across India are excited to be in the stadiums in Qatar where the world’s best football talent will be competing with each other. Our flight schedule has been planned to make the entire travel experience convenient and seamless,” Mr. Aggarwal further added.
