Food Porn Makes Our Brains Light Up Say MIT Researchers; And We’re Back To Watching Another Cake Video

Have you ever wondered why certain food videos are so amazing to watch? We have always noticed that a few aesthetic videos and photographs of food go viral on social media. And, we tend to question ourselves as to what is so pleasing about it that makes it appealing to watch. But, in a study, MIT researchers found that food porn ‘lights up our brains. The brain, apparently, loves to derive pleasure from food porn. Let’s find out more.

What Is Food Porn? What Kind Of Food Is The Brain Attracted To?

Food porn, according to research by MIT, tells that it is the brain lighting up or reacting to various kinds of foods aesthetically cooked or prepped. The brain responds to different types of food videos in different ways. Further, it also depends on how the food is presented and what kind of food is presented on screen. For instance, a human brain’s reaction to processed and unprocessed food would be different. While some may derive pleasure from looking at brilliantly presented baking videos, others may like salad bowls.

Responses Vary From Person To Person, Depends On Food Preferences Or Even Diet

Further study will also be conducted on the base to determine if such responses are developed right from childhood. While it is evident that people react to food videos, depending on their likes and dislikes, MIT aims to study if other animals behave this particular way. The part of the brain that reacts to the food videos, is also responsible for understanding other things like faces, bodies, and even language. However, the study on food and the brain’s reaction to it is a recent study.
