Travel vlogger couple Alex (@alexwandersyt) and Aminat (@amina_finds) have been exploring India recently. From showing less-visited sites to the country’s food, they have shown it all on their social media pages. Recently, they shared a video in which they can be seen with a dahi puchka vendor. They posted the video with a caption, “$0.34 street food in Kolkata, India 🇮🇳. I normally LOVE pani puri, so I decided to try Dahi puchka, which seemed very similar! After seeing how it was prepared, I couldn’t bring myself to try it, sorry. We did try giving it away to stop food waste, but unfortunately, no one wanted it. P.S. The man was absolutely lovely.”

In the video, Aminat decided not to have dahi puchka, whereas Alex ordered a plate for himself. He was shocked to see the vendor washing his hands in dirty water. To the couple’s horror, the vendor also put his long nails into the puri while breaking it and putting masala. They expected the vendor to wear gloves. After getting a plate of dahi puchka, the couple went far from the vendor, and Aminat commented that she might have to take Alex to the hospital that night if he ate it. In the video, Alex was reluctant to try the dish, and after giving it a thought, he threw it in the nearby dustbin.

Here’s How Netizens Reacted To This Video

The video by the travel vlogger couple quickly went viral on social media. The vendor’s method of preparing the dish was clearly unhygienic, and many users shared their reactions in the comments section. However, many others were not impressed with the couple’s choice of vendor, pointing out that the place they chose was unhygienic and calling them out in the comments section.

One wrote, “Acting all high and mighty in front of a pani puri vendor.”

Another user added, “Nothing like some added flavour from under the nail.”

One netizen commented, “Tourists in India: ‘I’ll take 10 bowls of street food for $1, please, and make sure it’s Michelin-starred’.”

One user advised, “Maybe try the same from a better place next time!?”
