First Night Street Food Market In Delhi
Delhi is all set to get its first-ever night time street food market, right behind Salimgarh Fort in Central Delhi. This market will open to the public in two weeks and is expected to become a favourite hangout spot for Delhiites, especially youngsters. This initiative has been taken by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), reported Economic Times. The idea behind this new market is to offer people a fresh, organised, and fun street-food experience even late at night.
The market is expected to feature food trucks, vans, and kiosks selling Delhi’s popular street food. To ensure there is enough variety to satisfy everyone’s cravings, MCD invited applications from vendors. Surprisingly, the authorities got nearly 300 vendor applications to be part of the project. However, for now, only 50 vendors have been allowed to set up their stalls.
Timings, Facilities & All You Need To Know
The first night street food market in Delhi is set to open in about two weeks. The street food market will open at 6 PM and serve delicious food till 10 PM. A large crowd is expected when it opens, and to ensure people have a satisfying experience, basic amenities like drinking water, streetlights, and floodlights will be provided. Officials have been working on this project for a long time. Encroachments at the site were cleared in May 2023, after the Lieutenant Governor’s visit, to make way for the development.
The best part is that this market will be very close to famous sites like the Red Fort and the Salimgarh Fort, making it a perfect spot for those who get tired and want to enjoy something tasty while enjoying Delhi’s cultural beauty. Also, permanent stores are not allowed, so the vendors will be using temporary setups that can be cleared out later.
