If there’s one snack that unites India across states, festivals, and generations, it’s the humble samosa. But while we’ve all bitten into the familiar triangle of crispy pastry stuffed with spiced potatoes, there’s a very special kind making waves abroad, the Bihari samosa. And guess what? This desi favourite has found a home in London, and Indians across the world cannot stop talking about it.

Bihari Samosas Are London’s Newest Food Obsession

The story begins in 1972, when Kalishaprasad Kishanlal Shah started a tiny eatery in Nadiad, Gujarat, serving the Bihari-style samosa. Known as Bihari Samosa Ghantawala, the shop became a local landmark. Over the decades, it expanded across Gujarat. Fast forward to today, and this legacy has crossed borders. Bihari Samosa UK is now delighting food lovers in South Harrow and, thanks to overwhelming demand, at a brand-new branch in Wembley too.

Bihari samosas are known to have a crispier, slightly thinner pastry shell, stuffed generously with spiced potato filling. The little parcels are served piping hot, paired with tangy chutneys. They feel like comfort food for all NRIs looking for the flavours of the homeland. And for curious Londoners, it’s a crunchy introduction to Bihar’s culinary heritage.

A recent viral Instagram video showed long queues outside the South Harrow shop, where people patiently waited to grab their share of samosas. The response at the outlet has been so overwhelming that the brand had to quickly announce a second outlet in Wembley to keep up with the demand.

Back in India, desi social media users are beaming with pride. Comments on the viral video are a mix of humour and excitement. While one user demanded, “India me home delivery kar dooo”, another expressed pride and said, “Bhai, you made us proud! London mein khade hoke Bihar ka naam aur samose ka asli swad zinda rakh rahe ho.”

Netizens were also quick to notice the squeaky clean surroundings and commented, “Look how hygienic they are making there.” Some, curious about other Bihari delicacies, asked, “Bhaiya, Litti Chokha banaye ho?” Clearly, it’s about identity, culture, and seeing a beloved snack represent India on the global map.

The success of Bihari Samosa UK is also a reminder of how Indian street food is evolving globally. And as the queues in Wembley show, this is only the beginning of a bigger love story between Londoners and India’s samosa tradition.
