Forest Division To Offer Grassland Safari In Pune & Solapur Districts; Booking App To Launch Soon

Soon you will be getting access to enjoy a grassland safari in Maharashtra! The Pune Forest Division will provide grassland safaris in the districts of Pune and Solapur as part of its grassland management program. The division has created a website booking tool that will debut on October 18. According to officials from the Pune Forest Department, it is a pioneering project in Maharashtra.

According to data from the forest department, 3.27 percent of the entire area, or 2160.77 hectares, falls within this category and contains only small patches of grasslands. For wild herbivore and carnivore species like blackbuck, chinkara, hare, Indian wolf, Indian fox, Indian jackal, and striped hyena, these greens are essential.

The department decided to start with two spots, Kadbanwadi in the Indapur tehsil of Pune and Shirsufal in the Baramati, because the grassland is spread out over large regions and has the potential for a safari.

According to Mayur Bothe, assistant conservator of forests (ACF), the ecosystem of the grasslands in Baramati and Indapur is distinct. There are lots of animals and birds to see in these places.

However, a methodical strategy is needed to ensure the preservation of this grassland. Increasing human involvement in the conservation program and generating job opportunities are also crucial points. (As per Hindustan Times)

One practical way to create jobs in these places in Pune and Solapur is through tourism. Thus, the forest department has created a methodical tourism plan with the assistance of a joint forest management committee that includes members from the nearby villages.

With the aid of non-governmental organizations that promote conservation and the protection of wildlife, the locals receive management and tour guide training. According to Bothe, there will be two times when people can visit these meadows.

Mahadev Mohite, deputy conservator of forests, Pune Forest Division, stated that plans are on for expansion into the districts of Solapur and Pune.

In the past, people would unlawfully invade these reserve forest regions. According to a forest official, organized tourism would assist the forest department in giving residents and nature enthusiasts who want to visit these locations systematic access. (As per Hindustan Times)
