UAE is known as the land of manmade wonders. However, that has not deterred the country from enjoying some stunning natural gems. While the UAE might be devoid of natural water bodies, it has worked hard towards creating Lakes and water bodies of its own.
From the Love lake to pink lake and the moon-shaped lake, here are some of the most unique lakes you will find in the UAE.
1. Love Lake
Al Qudra Lake is one of those destinations in Dubai that are far but extremely popular for a lot of reasons. From its tranquil environment away from the hustle of the city to the sheer characteristics makes it one of the romantic spots in the city as well as a favourite amongst fitness enthusiasts.
A lot of has been spoken about how much of a romantic spot this little love lake at Al Qudra is. This recently launched attraction at Al Qudra exudes sheer beauty and natural brilliance. The lake itself is o intertwined hearts dotted by flora that spell out love. Not only is it a perfect romantic date spot, but they also make for a great click for your insta feed.

2. Moon-Shaped Lake
Yet another lake, recently discovered in Al Qudra, the stunning moon-shaped lake is the perfect place to spot a crescent moon in the middle of the dessert. The moon lake is nestled between white sand dunes and trees surrounding it.

3. Salt Lake In Abu Dhabi
Situated a mere 40-minute drive away from the Abu Dhabi city, along the Abu Dhabi – Al Ain highway lies a stunning water body, inhabited by more than 250 species of plants and birds. The Al Wathba reserve was once a coastal salt flat (sabkha). However, it has now flourished into natural and man-made lakes that enable many of Abu Dhabi’s wildlife species to thrive.
The Al Wathba reserve is home to more than 250 species of birds, 37 plant species and varied types of dragonflies and damselflies. The reserves also have walking tours that let you explore the place on foot. You can take a self-guided tour, and a bird hide equipped with binoculars and a telescope.
While there are many birds and distinct species, this place is particularly renowned for the abundance of Greater Flamingos, with as many as 4,000 living there during autumn and spring. Now ain’t that cool? The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, which manages the site, has purposefully kept the reserve as raw as possible, so you will love walking around the area.
The Al Wathba Wetland Reserve is open October to April, Thursdays to Saturdays form 8.00 AM to 4.00 PM, timings change so please check before going. Entry is free for all. There are no dining or shopping facilities onsite, so make sure you bring your own snacks and drinks. The best time to go here is early morning. Just make sure you wear comfortable cloths and walking shoes, take your binoculars and cameras, as the sights are breathtaking.

4. Pink Lake
A pink lake, recently discovered in the UAE is took the social media by storm and how. Founded by a young Emirati photographer Ammar Al Farsi, the lake looks unreal and beautiful. Aged 19, Ammar, a student from Sharjah captured shots of the lake in Ras al Khaimah from his drone and then posted them on Twitter, which went viral on the internet. The fine aerial pictures show the lake to be 40 metres long and 10 metres wide, coloured in a cotton-candy pink, right across the water. When it comes to the shots, reports in Gulf News state that the drone shots were taken approximately 100 metres from the coast at Saraya Islands.
5. Expo Lake
A stunning lake resembling the logo of Expo 2020 popped up in 2020. The new site is made using a lake, trees and sand and is located on the other side of the highway to the rest of Al Qudra lakes. The lake is well-established with toilet and parking facilities for members of the public to use. Guests can spot ducks, cranes and flamingos, and the oryx along the route. Besides, the new site is also available on Google maps. Take a look.
