From Garlic To Green Chilli, Amour In Chennai Is Serving Ice Creams That Are Not For The Faint-Hearted

Are you someone who enjoys experimenting with ice cream flavours? If yes, then this ice-cream brand might just surprise you, and no, we are not talking about the usual sitaphal flavour or some quirky vegetable-based ice cream. We are talking karupatti, garlic and green chilli! Yes, you read that right. A new ice cream brand in Chennai is serving up all these flavours, and we are so here for it.

As per a report in The New Indian Express, a brand-new ice cream range in Chennai called Amour is serving up some truly unique flavours to its customers. This brand, brought to the market by the team behind Dindigul Ponram (a popular restaurant chain), aims to turn nostalgic, traditional ingredients into indulgent desserts. Unlike the usual fancy ice cream brands, Amour stands out for its ingredients, which are sourced from across Tamil Nadu’s hills.

Before we get into their more adventurous flavours like green chilli and garlic, let’s talk about their banana flavour, which seems to be stealing hearts already. Made using sweet bananas sourced from Sirumalai, this dessert is so rich that you might just find it impossible to stop at one.

Now, when it comes to their garlic variant, the hero ingredient is ‘Poonbarai garlic’. The result? A curious mix of savoury and sweet that delivers a mellowed punch to the taste buds. It’s not a flavour people might expect to like on their first try, but it’s the one that will keep you coming back for more. Not stopping there, Amour also offers a green chilli-flavoured ice cream. It may sound better than garlic, but don’t be fooled. It’s wrapped in a stingy sweetness, not for those who can’t handle spice in their desserts. Sourced from Virakkal, the chillies promise to serve a bold kick to your taste buds.

Other Mild Ice Cream Flavours To Try

If you are not into bold or spicy flavours, don’t worry, Amour has something for you too. The brand also serves ice creams in milder, naturally sweet flavours like Karupatti (palm jaggery) and Panakarkandu (palm candy). Both of these are natural sweeteners made from the sap of palm trees and are known for their caramel-like sweetness and rich flavour. A healthier alternative to refined sugar, these sweeteners are designed to deliver comfort and nostalgia in every bite. Another interesting option is their ginger flavour, which is fresh and balanced and not too overpowering.

However, if you are looking for fruity, aromatic options, Amour also offers ‘Senthooram Mango’ and Jackfruit ice creams. Both of which are fast becoming crowd favourites for their rich and aromatic taste, perfect for the summer. Customers can also indulge in delicious flavours like Fig and Honey (sourced from Thandikudi) and Gulkand, made using a special luxurious rose from Nilakottai.
