Many people are changing their lifestyles, food choices, and daily habits to live healthier lives. One of the major life changes for improved fitness and a healthier planet is choosing veganism. Debates on vegan food and non-veg consumption have been continuing forever. A recent study on plant-based meats sparked a conversation again as research revealed the health risks of consuming vegan meats.
A New Research Found Life Risks Of Consuming Plant-Based Meats
We read about the health effects of red and fatty meats in the past. Many health-conscious and fitness enthusiasts ditched these non-vegetarian meat options and have started eating vegan meats to improve fitness, enjoy a healthier diet, and contribute to the environment. There was a time when plant-based meats were linked with fitness. However, a recent study shed light on the deadly risks of consuming these types of meats.
A team of scientists at the University of São Paulo and Imperial College London collaborated to conduct research. According to a report by the New York Post, the study was conducted based on over 118,000 British people. They were in the age group of between 40 and 69 years. The study revealed a few shocking information. One of the most striking discoveries is plant-based meats’s effects on heart diseases.
Different ultra-processed plant-based food items are considered a major risk for cardiovascular diseases. The study mentioned how these food choices increase the chances of suffering from heart disease such as attacks and stroke by 15 per cent. These packaged options are loaded with saturated fat, salt, and sugar. All these unnecessary components increase the chances of people falling sick.
People May Even Die!!
These findings lead to many questions among vegans. Many may feel confused and scared thinking about continuing their diets after reading about the possibility of suffering from cardiovascular issues after consuming vegan meats. Researchers reported that people following a diet of ultra-processed vegan food faced an increase in the risk of death due to heart conditions by 12 per cent.
Eating too much vegan ultra-processed foods showed a 7 per cent higher possibility of diseases such as blocked heart vessels, according to a report by DailyMail.
The findings are indeed scary, especially for vegans. If you follow veganism, make sure to consult a professional or a dietician before adding anything to your regular diet.
