The process of brewing tea, the addition of ingredients, the cooking temperature, and the duration required for the entire method are the crucial factors behind the taste of a cup of tea. You might have noticed how the beverages taste a bit different in every household and tea shop and the reasons behind these slight differences are all the methods of brewing tea and the time taken for it.
Different types of tea leaves need to be brewed in their specific ways if you want to enjoy the authentic taste and flavours. Following improper methods can result in a cup of bland chai. To make us understand all about the vast world of tea and brewing, Chef Ranveer Brar recently uploaded a video sharing insights about a few tea types and their brewing process.
Tea leaves that are fairly new and white are to make white tea. And when tea leaves are fermented and oxidised well but not completely, we get oolong tea. Following the proper steps of fermenting leaves completely gives the most famous black tea. As shared by Chef Ranveer Brar, the duration to brew tea and the temperature increases as the colour of tea leaves deepens. It means that the lesser the deep and bright colour of tea leaves, the lesser the amount of boiled water temperature and time needed.

Here Are A Few Examples To Understand
- Brewing white tea takes the least time and water boiling at a temperature of about 70 degrees.
- For green, the duration is about 80 to 85 degrees.
- To brew oolong tea, the water is boiled at a temperature of around 90-95 degrees.
- And to make our favourite black tea, water needs to be boiled at a high temperature of about 100 degrees.

A strong brewing method also helps in making chai of thick consistency.
