The Punjabi song Hiriye went viral in 2006 when virality wasn’t even a thing then! Ludhiana-based singer and industrialist Shael Oswal’s melodious vocals still resonate with millions of people today. So, we couldn’t help but catch up Shael Oswal as our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani enjoyed a lovely meal with him at Saar Cafe in Mumbai. Over deliciously healthy food, Shael got talking to us about his recent relocation to Dubai from Singapore.
Shael Oswal Shares His Love For Dubai
With the OG romantic song Hiriye still standing at 38 million views on YouTube, Shael Oswal is now ready to launch his brand new song Rabba Kare. While relishing a healthy meal with Kamiya Jani at Saar Cafe, the singer revealed his favourite places in Dubai which he called a “bomb city”. He said that Dubai has a lot of culture.
So, which are some of his favourite places to hang out in Dubai? Shael lists them as Downtown, Palm Jumeirah and Jumeirah Village Circle or JVC. He loves the warmth exuded by the residents. And recollects staying in an Airbnb when he visited the city earlier. With Indians and Pakistanis in his neighbourhood and an Indian school located within walking distance, Shael was very impressed with the city.
Recollects A Sweet Fan Encounter In The City
The singer even recollected a warm fan encounter in Dubai. “Aapko dekha hai kahin! (I’ve seen you somewhere),” exclaimed one of the men. They weren’t Indian but Pakistani fans. The men identified him to be the “Hiriye” singer. This warm fan encounter left him pleasantly surprised. Shael Oswal didn’t expect his music to still resonate with the audience even after so many years.
And of course, when we have the vibrant Shael Oswal in front of us, we can’t let him go without crooning to his hits. Happily obliging to Kamiya’s request, Shael sang his new song, Rabba Kare. And that’s not all! He also shared a cute story of his admiration for Salman Khan.
