Western Railway (WR) will introduce a revised timetable for Mumbai suburban local trains from September 1, 2026. The changes are aimed at optimising services, improving the passenger experience and catering to travel demand. According to the zonal railway, the overall number of suburban services will remain unchanged. Western Railway currently operates 1,414 suburban train services. Read on to know more.
Six New Mumbai Local Train Services From September 1
According to reports by The Indian Express, under the revised timetable, Western Railway will add six new suburban services, including two Up and four Down services.
The new services are:
- BYR (Bhayandar)-VR (Virar): Departs BYR at 7:46 am and reaches Virar at 8:12 am.
- Borivali-BYR: Departs Borivali at 10:14 pm and reaches BYR (Bhayandar) at 10:30 pm.
- BVI (Borivali)-VR (Virar): Departs Borivali at 10:51 pm and reaches Virar at 11:33 pm.
- Borivali-BYR (Bhayandar): Departs Borivali at 12:28 am and reaches BYR at 12:46 am.
- BA (Bandra)-CCG (Churchgate): Departs BA (Bandra) at 11:58 am and reaches Churchgate at 12:30 pm.
- Virar-Borivali: Departs Virar at 11:51 pm and reaches Borivali at 12:26 am.

While six new services will be introduced, six existing suburban services will be withdrawn under the revised timetable. These include two AC Fast services and four other trains operating on the Churchgate-Borivali and Borivali-Churchgate routes. The services being cancelled are BO94137, BCL90359, BO90483, BCL90911, BO94138 and BO90540.
Mumbai AC Local Services To Increase & Other Locals To Be Merged
The number of AC suburban services on the Western Railway network will rise from 145 to 147.
Two new AC services have been added:
- CCG (Churchgate)-BVI (Borivali) (BO94105): Departs Churchgate at 5:28 pm.
- BVI (Borivali)-CCG (Churchgate) (BO94110): Departs Borivali at 6:24 pm.
WR (Western Railway) will also modify the routes and timings of several existing services based on passenger demand.
The DDR (Dadar)-VR (Virar) service 90677 and VR (Virar)-DDR (Dadar) service 93033 will be merged, with the combined service departing Dadar at 5:22 pm.
The VR-DDR service VR92046, which currently leaves Virar at 8:23 am, will be extended to Churchgate. Another DDR-VR service, VR92069, will also be extended up to Churchgate.

Some Mumbai Local Trains To Skip Borivali
Additionally, as per the reports, the changes have also been made to the halts of certain services. The VR94113 AC service, which departs Churchgate at 6:22 pm and reaches Virar at 7:46 pm, will skip Borivali. Similarly, VR90791, departing Churchgate at 7:05 pm and reaching Virar at 8:27 pm, will also not halt at Borivali.
Meanwhile, BO94029, an AC slow service operating from Churchgate to Borivali, will be extended to Goregaon (GMN) before returning. Western Railway has advised passengers to check the revised timetable before starting their journey from September 1.
