UK-based Jake Dryan is an avid follower of Indian food. He is on a mission to prepare dishes from all 29 states of India. Currently, his Instagram bio reads that he has ticked off 13 out of 29 states already. Covering one state at a time, the British chef recently prepared Chaunsa Dal, a dish from Uttarakhand that many Indians aren’t aware of themselves. This is an aromatic dal made of urad dal, which is first ground into a coarse paste and then cooked with spices.

In fact, he is so much in love with our desi cuisines that he has a curry leaf plant growing on his balcony. Jake Dryan has prepared other regional dishes like Dal Bhat with Aloo Bhujia, Sindhi Aloo Tuk, Rice Chilla, Dal Dhokli, Puran Poli, Indori Poha and even Dal Bafla. In his Instagram reels, you can watch him preparing these dishes from scratch where he grinds the spices using mortar and pestle just like us Indians.
