Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most beloved festivals in India. This festival is not only a festival but an emotion that fills the atmosphere with pomp and enthusiasm. As it is one of the most important festivals, many people tend to visit their native places or come to the city. Keeping this in mind, Indian Railways will be operating 312 special trains for the festival.

Indian Railways to Operate Special Trains For Ganesh Chaturthi

With Ganesh Chaturthi coming up this September, the Indian Railways has announced special trains for all the devotees. Combining the Central and Western Railways, there will be about 312 special trains running for the festive season.

Out of these 312 trains, Western Railways will have 55 special trains, and Central Railways will have 257 special trains. This initiative has been taken by the Indian Railways to make sure that the huge rush is under control during this festive season.

According to a press release, Central Railways will be transporting over 1.4 lakh passengers during this festive season. Last year, in 2022, they transported about 90,000 passengers.

Reserved And Unreserved Services

Additionally, it stated that there were an anticipated 1.50 lakh unreserved people who wanted to travel during this period on 257 Ganpati Special train routes. As a result, there will be 94 unreserved services running in 2023 as opposed to 32 in 2022, which is an increase of 18 special services over last year.

Prior to the beginning of bookings on June 27, Central Railway announced that it would operate 156 Ganpati Special trains in anticipation of the festival of Ganpati in September 2023. The 156 Ganpati special may or may not be one of the Central Railway’s 257 special trains running at the moment for Ganesh Chaturthi.
