Germany To Ask For Negative Covid Test For All Air Travelers

Countries are ramping up the vaccine process and are also laying down some strict travel rules. And one such country is Germany. As per the reports, travellers arriving in Germany by air from Sunday will have to produce a negative covid test before boarding. The update was announced by the health ministry amid concerns over German tourists flocking to Mallorca over the Easter holidays.

People Traveling To Germany From March 28 Will Have To Present A Negative Certificate

The update is yet to be approved by Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cabinet, which will happen anytime. With the new rule in place,

“All travellers planning to enter Germany by plane from March 28 must take a mandatory test before departure,” the official said.

Airline crews are exempt from the new rules. Passengers will have to pay for the test, and the test must be taken less than 48 hours before boarding the flight. Authorities have decided on this move because Germany is battling a sharp rise in coronavirus infections, fired by new virus variants.

Thousands of Germans are planning to travel to Mallorca after it was taken off from Germany’s list of risk areas. And to ensure that everything is done smoothly, Airlines laying on hundreds of extra flights to cope with the surge in demand.
