Coffee and whisky are two different drinks that people enjoy on different occasions. But what if we told you these two amazing flavours have come together? Yes, Amrut Distilleries has launched CaféX, a limited-edition Indian Single Malt that blends the art of whisky making with the rich coffee grown in the Western Ghats. Read to know more!

Amrut Distilleries Launches CaféX That Blends Coffee & Whisky

Amrut Distilleries, in collaboration with Harley Estate, launched CaféX. Harley Estate is a coffee plantation in Sakaleshpur, Karnataka, that has been around since 1864. To make this whisky, Amrut aged its single malt in special casks seasoned with Harley Estate’s coffee beans.

For years, whisky makers have used different types of barrels, such as oak, wine and sherry casks, to add flavour to their whisky. But with CaféX, Amrut decided to try something different. The brand used coffee-seasoned casks to create a unique flavour experience. This is not the first time Amrut has experimented with whisky, as it has previously launched innovative expressions such as Naarangi, Spectrum and Herald.

How Many Bottles Are Launched?

Inspired by the Western Ghats, this whisky comes in a white and emerald-green package. Amrut Distilleries has also released only 2,400 bottles worldwide. As soon as you open the bottle, you’ll notice aromas of capsicum, jalapeño, fruits, vanilla cream, citrus and mocha chocolate, along with floral hints and gentle spice.

As for its appearance, the whisky has a golden honey colour. Commenting on this release, Amrut Distilleries Managing Director Rakshit N Jagdale said, “CaféX is a celebration of two things India does exceptionally well—crafting world-class single malt and growing exceptional coffee. Bringing them together through an innovative approach to cask maturation reflects our enduring commitment to pushing the boundaries of whisky making while remaining deeply rooted in our heritage. At Amrut, innovation is not an occasional achievement; it is part of our DNA and ethos.”
