Goa Becomes COVID-19 Free
The coastal State had a total of 7 positive cases, of whom six had travel history and one was the brother of a positive patient. On Sunday, the last of them tested negative, ringing in the good news.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, announcing this victory said, “Goa is now COVID-19-free, all seven patients have tested negative. They will be quarantined at government facility and later at home.”
This makes Goa the first green state in the country with no case of coronavirus being reported since April 3. However, it is up to the Centre to declare Goa as a green zone.

Social Distancing And Lockdown Rules Will Continue To Apply In Goa
Although a happy moment for everyone, especially the frontline workers, Dr. Sawant said that it was important to realise that this was no time for relaxing. Norms of social distancing and lockdown would have to be followed to maintain the status of ‘zero case state’.
The Chief Minister also said that from April 20 onwards, the government would scrutinise reports of its three-day door-to-door citizens’ survey and decide on testing people for COVID-19 wherever it felt necessary.
Commenting on the easing of restrictions, he said, “The restrictions during the lockdown period will continue. We will go as per the central government’s guidelines.”
