Goa Plans Post Lockdown Will Now Require A COVID-19 Health Certificate

As if making the Goa plan work ain’t enough work already, you will now need to produce a health certificate when you enter Goa post lockdown.

As part of the state’s strategy to check the spread of the coronavirus, health certificates will be made mandatory for tourists flying into Goa after the lockdown restrictions are eased/lifted.

Health Certificate Now A Necessary Requirement To Enter Goa

Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane recently announced that air travellers will not be allowed to enter the state without a health certificate, i.e. once the Centre opens up airports when the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions are eased or lifted.

As per Rane, these COVID-19 health certificates are essential and must be issued by central government-approved labs. The minister has already requested Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take up this issue with the Union Civil Aviation Ministry.

The Coastal State Is Taking All Necessary Measures To Flatten The Curve

The measure is intended to help the administration flatten the curve and keep the locals safe. “Each state has powers to enforce its own rules to contain the spread of COVID-19. Even if all COVID-19 patients in Goa are cured of the infection, the authorities will not relax,” Rane was reported as saying.

The State government also intends to establish as many as 10 rapid testing booths at industrial estates and state borders.

A major tourist destination, Goa relies heavily on the industry for its revenue. However, Rane insists that the measures will not be relaxed when the centre opens domestic airports for the public. Once the state successfully ensures no new cases emerge, the lean period will be used to ramp up test facilities. For this purpose, it plans to scale its testing facilities in talukas too.
