Goa Tightens Rules On Plastic Ban

Under 140 Characters

If you’re caught up with the entire plastic ban situation in Mumbai, maybe you missed that Goa initiated the plastic ban back in April 2018.

What Is It?

If you thought Goa is all about the chill life, you might be wrong. Much before our very own Mumbai city, Goa banned the use of plastic bags in April 2018. The fine for being caught is also greater than in Mumbai! In Mumbai, if you’re caught, you can be fined up to ₹2500, but in Goa, the penalty will be around ₹5000.

But There’s A Loophole

Plastic bags below 50 microns are allowed. Whether you’re a user or a seller, this rule is applicable. Shopkeepers who will be selling the plastic bags can register their service for ₹4000 per month or ₹24,000 per year. If the license isn’t there, no vendor will be allowed to sell plastic bags.
