The famous Dudhsagar Falls in Goa has officially reopened for the tourist season in early October 2026 after remaining closed for the monsoon season. The stunning waterfall stands at 1,017 feet and is one of the tallest in India. Here is why it should be on your travel bucket list.
Dudhsagar Falls Reopens For Tourists
The forest department has issued an order announcing the opening of the Dudhsagar circuit for eco-tourism for the 2026-27 season. According to The Times of India, the reopening is for authorised vehicles to carry tourists to the waterfall and back. The activities will begin with immediate effect. Visitors can book the vehicles online through a government-authorised portal run by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).
Dudhsagar Falls is located on the Mandovi River inside the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park near the border of Goa and Karnataka. The entry gates to the park will remain open from 8 am to 3 pm for batches of 30-40 visitors at hourly intervals. The trips in a day will be capped at 240, as recommended by the State Board for Wildlife (SBWL). This rule has been announced considering the parking space and to prevent overcrowding at the tourist spot.

Strict Entry Rules For Tourists
According to The Times of India, for the first 15 days, additional forest staff and personnel will be deployed near the river crossing as a precaution. Moreover, only vehicles registered with the Goa Forest Department will be given entry. Private vehicles and two-wheelers will not be allowed to enter the tourist circuit from the entry gate.
Dudhsagar Falls, which is also called the “Sea of Milk”, is a place every traveller should visit. The water falls from a massive height of 310 metres, and it creates a white, foaming mist that makes it look like pouring milk. The place looks like something straight out of a book.
And if you are planning to visit, keep in mind that entry without life jackets is strictly prohibited. However, there will be an adequate number of guards, nature guides, support staff and lifeguards inside.
You should also know that plastic water bottles and plastic carry bags are not permitted inside. People found under the influence of alcohol or carrying alcohol can face strict action too.
