Good News! First Phase Of Mumbai’s Coastal Road To Open Next Week!

We come bearing some good news for all the Mumbaikars. The first phase of the Coastal Road in Mumbai will open from next week. As per BMC, the first phase of this road is in its completion stage and if all things go as planned, then it will be open to the public from March 12. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde also inspected the workflow on this project today and assured the public that the road will be open for use soon on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

As per BMC, the first phase of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Motorway or Coastal Road in Mumbai will be open by March 12 for the public. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was seen inspecting the site of phase one today and he even posted about the project’s progress on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Both BMC and CM Shinde assured the public that operations on Mumbai’s Coastal Road will commence soon. According to reports, it will be open to the public from next week on March 12! In his tweet, the CM also mentioned that a grand central park will be constructed on this coastal road. They also plan to plant many trees in this park to promote greenery.

Furthermore, according to a BMC official, the final work to connect Mumbai Coastal Road and Bandra Worli Sea Link is underway and will be completed by May. As per BMC’s plans, Worli to Nariman Point Coastal Road will be 18.58 km long and cost around ₹13,983 crore. It will feature eight lanes and the tunnel road will have six lanes.

The Mumbai Coastal Road is a much-anticipated, under-construction road project. It is a 29.2-km long grade-separated expressway that will have 8-lane roads along Mumbai’s western coastline. It will connect Marine Lines in the south to Kandivali in the north of Mumbai. Once fully operational, this road is projected to see more than 1,30,000 vehicles every day. It is also expected to reduce travel time between South Mumbai and the Western Suburbs to just 40 minutes from the current 2 hours.
